A varicocele occurs when there is an enlargement of the veins within the scrotum. Varicoceles are common causes of male infertility because they can cause the testicles to shrink and can lead to low sperm production and affect the quality of the sperm within a male. Pain in the scrotum region is also a common symptom of a varicocele. In Most cases a varicocele can be corrected through a simple outpatient procedure.
