When a man has a vasectomy, and wants to reverse the condition, the procedure is called a vasovasectomy in which the severed ends of the vas deferens are re-connected so that the flow of sperm can be restored. In a small handful of vasectomy reversal cases, there is an incidence where no vas fluid is found, or very low quality of fluid is found during the procedure. When this occurs, a vasoepididymostomy will need to take place. A vasoepididymostomy is a procedure that uses a microscopic camera and very small surgical tools in order to correct obstructions in the genital tract. The procedure requires removal of the blockage in the epididymis (the coiled tube that extends the length of each testis and connects with the vas deferens) and re-attachment of the epididymis to the vas deferens.
